What is Endocrinology?
Endocrinology deals with the study of endocrine system. It
concerned with physiological activities in the body like growth and
development. It is also concerned with tissue and cells of the human body. It involves the treatment and diagnosis of a certain diseases and
with the hormones that secrete by several glands.
Hormone is a chemical messenger that secreted in the body.
It has an effect on other parts of the body. It is found in organisms with more
than one cell as well as in plants and animals. It also contributes energy and
nutrition in the body. It is responsible for healing, aging and growth.
The 3 groups of hormones are the following:
amines (norepinephrine,
epinephrine, and dopamine),
peptides and protein (leptin, ghrelin,
and insulin),
steroids (glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids,
androgens, estrogens, and progestagens).
